The Center for Health and the Social Sciences (CHeSS) at the University of Chicago is seeking an experienced Senior Research Analyst to join the Center Methods Core team. Advanced skills in programming and in the application of complex statistical methods are required. This will include programming of computationally intensive statistical procedures, variable creation, database management, data integration and analysis of large datasets using relevant statistical and data management software. They will also conduct research related to healthcare economics, healthcare delivery science, health services research, biomedicine and system and process redesign. The Senior Research Analyst will be responsible for the procurement, maintenance and quality of the CHeSS Methods Core's data holdings and other data consortiums. Candidates must be able to work with multiple leaders and investigators across all aspects of project development and execution in order to produce meaningful data analysis. We seek candidates who are adept in providing support and guidance to team members of varying technical proficiency and supporting users in the practical application of data and findings to improve processes and impact outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
Work Experience:
Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Preferred Qualifications
Education:
- Advanced degree in statistics, biostatics, computer science, mathematics, economics, sociology, epidemiology, operations research, or related field.
Experience:
- Prior experience with data modeling, data analysis and demonstrated ability to contribute to research papers and grant proposals.
- Experience with programming and data management.
- Supervisory and project management experience.
- Experience with Stata, R and SAS and health-related analyses.
- Prior experience working with large longitudinal data sets such as healthcare surveys, hospital administrative, billing and electronic health record data, and Medicare or private claims.
Preferred Competencies:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Work independently and as part of a team and motivated to explore and apply new technologies and methods to problems.
- Work simultaneously with multiple investigators, prioritize competing objectives, and identify opportunities to more efficiently accomplish programming tasks.
