    (Apologies for the cross postings.)

The Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business and College of Business Administration at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a tenure-stream faculty (Full/Associate/Assistant Professor) position in Business Analytics (BA) starting Fall 2019.

The BA position will support the Business Analytics and Operations (BAO) area's growing research and teaching needs. In addition to strong research and teaching interests in theory and methodology, candidates should have demonstrated expertise in working with empirical data and applied data analytics for contemporary decision-making problems. The School provides exceptional research support to junior faculty. The ideal candidate would be well versed in various techniques commonly used in Business Analytics (e.g., machine learning, data visualization, data mining & modeling, text mining, predictive and prescriptive modeling, optimization and simulation). Candidates must have a PhD in a related field, and leadership experience in an academic unit is highly desirable for senior positions.

Business Analytics is one of the school-wide strategic thrusts at the Katz Graduate School of Business, where several Business Analytics programs have been initiated recently. We expect the new faculty member to fully contribute to these programs. In the case of a senior faculty hire, the candidate should be capable of leading the BAO Area and communicating effectively with constituents through research and teaching focused on analytics. Research collaborations are encouraged across various units at the University of Pittsburgh.

The University of Pittsburgh has been recognized as the best public university in the Northeast US and the best public value in Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh is the second most livable city in America according to The Global Liveability Index 2018. It is home to 88,000 students from 10 colleges and universities. Low living cost, small business accelerators, networking opportunities, and an innovative community make the city appealing to entrepreneurs, with 178,000 people employed in tech-related industries. Pittsburgh is emerging as a city of makers and The Atlantic calls it "the next tech mecca."
