    I am very pleased to announce that Ted Ralphs of Lehigh University is now an Area Editor for INFORMS Journal on Computing.  Please see the paragraphs below to learn more about Ted and the unique and exceptional opportunities to publish your software advances in INFORMS Journal on Computing.

    Alice Smith, INFORMS Journal on Computing Editor in Chief

    Dr. Ted Ralphs received his Ph.D. in Operations Research from Cornell University in 1995. He is currently a professor in the Department of
    Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) at Lehigh University, where he is director of the Laboratory for Computational Optimization Research at Lehigh (COR@L). He is a co-founder of the COIN-OR Foundation, a non-profit foundation promoting the development of open source software for operations research and is currently chair of the Technical Leadership Council and a member of the Strategic Leadership Board, as well as project manager of a number of projects hosted in the COIN-OR open source software repository. His research interests include development of methodology for solving discrete optimization problems, including game-theoretic or stochastic with multiple stages or multiple objectives;
    development of parallel search algorithms; development of open source software; and applications of discrete optimization.

    The Software Tools area is a unique and evolving area of IJOC that seeks papers describing software and data that are being made available to the research community. The papers we seek are not typical research papers. They are generally shorter and the goal is to describe or illustrate how the software and data can be used to advance research, as well as how the contribution relates to the existing research literature. These papers generally do not need to have extensive results or analysis. The reviewing process is shorter and consists of a review of both the paper and the software/data. For an example of a paper in the new area, see https://pubsonline.informs.org/doi/abs/10.1287/ijoc.2017.0785
