Assistant Professor - Operations Management and Statistics – September 17, 2019

    Taleo Requisition #1903957/Divisional ID #OPS19-1

The Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in the Operations Management and Statistics area, with a specialization in data analytics. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an expected start date of July 1, 2020, or shortly thereafter.

Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. degree in Operations Management, Statistics, or a related discipline, by the date of appointment or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching. In addition, applicants for the position must have a strong theoretical and methodological background in their area of specialization, as well as the demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge to important questions and issues in management.

We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement our existing strengths in the Operations Management and Statistics Area, and reinforce our expertise in data analytics. The Rotman School of Management has a strong research oriented faculty that is supportive of serious scholarship and is committed to the professional development of its faculty. The Operations Management and Statistics area provides a stimulating and supportive research environment and a strong commitment to excellence in both research and teaching. The successful candidate for this position is expected to pursue independent, innovative research at the highest international level, to establish an outstanding and competitive research program, and to establish and sustain a publication record of impactful articles in internationally recognized top-tier academic journals in relevant fields. The successful candidate will also have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level, and to graduate student training and supervision.

Excellence in research is evidenced primarily by the submitted research statement and publications or forthcoming publications in top-ranked field-relevant journals, or a job market paper and other work in progress that meets high international standards. Other evidence of research excellence may include presentations at top conferences, presenting research at other highly ranked schools, and research awards and accolades, as well as strong letters of recommendation from referees of high standing.

A commitment to excellence in teaching will be demonstrated through the statement of teaching philosophy, teaching accomplishments, and teaching dossier or other evidence of superior performance in teaching-related activities (such as performance as a teaching assistant or course instructor, experience leading successful workshops or seminars, student mentorship, or excellent conference posters or presentations), as well as strong letters of recommendation, and strong performance during the on-campus presentation for short-listed candidates.
