    CLEMSON UNIVERSITY Department Chair - Industrial Engineering

     

    The Department of Industrial Engineering, in the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences at Clemson University, is seeking applicants for its Department Chair position. In addition to directing the operational management of the Department, responsibilities of the Chair include, but are not limited to: (1) creating a compelling vision for the advancement of the department by increasing existing strengths, fostering new disciplines in emerging fields within IE, and strengthening interdisciplinary efforts across the College and University; (2) facilitating both the professional and scholarly growth of the faculty; (3) ensuring a high-quality education is provided to all undergraduate and graduate students; (4) providing a stimulating environment for postdocs and scholars that fosters cutting-edge scholarship; (5) increasing sponsored research (both private and federal), as well as cultivating corporate and alumni relationships to increase gifts that will improve visibility on achievements.

     

    The Department of Industrial Engineering 

    The Industrial Engineering Department, which has been ranked 17th among public universities twice, has 17 full-time faculty members and a student population of 525 undergraduate students, 108 on-campus master's students, and 35 doctoral students. In addition, there are 80 students enrolled in an online Masters of Engineering program. Industrial Engineering is the highest ranked department in the College and is expected to add 3 new faculty hires over the next 3 years.     Qualifications 

    Applicants must have a Ph.D., and research and teaching experience in industrial engineering or closely related field. In addition, we are seeking an individual who is a distinguished scholar in their field of research, with demonstrated academic credentials sufficient for appointment at the Full Professor level; is committed to high academic standards; is skilled in the development and expansion of sponsored research programs; is experienced in enhancing the representation and success of underrepresented populations; has excellent leadership, management and interpersonal skills as well as written and oral communication skills; and encourages open, collaborative and inclusive problem solving.
