INFORMS Transactions on Education (ITE) is the INFORMS's journal focused on advancing and disseminating approaches, cases and research that lead to instructional success. ITE's mission is to become the flagship journal of education science related to the core domains of INFORMS: Management Science (MS), Operations Research (OR), Operations Management (OM) and analytics.
This special issue highlights a broadening in the scope of the journal, from mainly providing instructor resources (cases and games) to a more research oriented journal that publishes research articles related to education and learning
. The link with OR/MS/analytics can be dual: papers study either a topic concerning OR/MS/analytics education or apply an OR/MS/analytics technique to improve teaching and learning in general (not limited to OR/MS/analytics education).
Example topics for potential submissions include, but are not limited to:
- Review or survey of specific topics in research in OR/MS/analytics education
- Analysis of trends in OR/MS/analytics education
- Use of OR techniques for optimizing (the organization of) teaching, e.g., mixed integer programming for course timetabling, group composition, automatized evaluation, etc.
- Evaluation of one of the following education topics with respect to OR/MS/analytics education or with respect to other disciplines using an OR/MS/analytics technique
- Examining the effectiveness of a specific teaching approach
- Study of best practices in recent teaching approaches: e.g., interdisciplinary, active learning, blended learning, MOOCs, etc.
- Use of new technologies in teaching and learning
- Research on specific (un)controllable factors that impact learning outcomes or teaching effectiveness
- Study of impact of education on careers

Please note that this Special Issue is only open to research (and review) articles, so no cases, games, puzzles or resource reviews will be reviewed for this SI.
