    Position Description

    A postdoctoral research position is available at the Alberta School of Business, University of Alberta (Canada). The candidate will work on projects building prediction models using machine learning techniques in medicine and wildland fire applications. Depending on the candidate's interest, he/she may also work on developing optimization models that use prediction results for better decisions. The candidate will have access to large-scale administrative health data and extensive wildfire operations data, both from the province of Alberta.

    Key responsibilities of the postdoctoral fellow are conducting data-driven research and working towards publications in high quality journals. Other responsibilities may also include communicating with collaborators in clinical or policy positions and co-supervising undergraduate or graduate students on research.

    Qualifications

    Applicants should have a Ph.D. in industrial engineering, computer science, operations research, statistics, or other-related fields before the appointment begins. Applicants should have experience in coding and machine learning. Strong written and oral communication skills are a must. A strong technical background is expected.
