It would have to be E.T. A legendary masterpiece!

TESB is my favorite as well, so I'll use this moment to shed light on another gem of a film that gets overlooked: The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension. It features a stellar cast that includes Peter Weller, John Lithgow, Ellen Barkin, Jeff Goldblum and Christopher Lloyd. Unfortunately it is one of those films that could have used one more script re-write. Despite that, it is a fun little romp that I think you'll enjoy. Here's a link to the trailer:

Avatar is one of our go-tos in my house. Recently watched The Adam Project and enjoyed that as well! So, I guess we are Zoe Saldaña fans :)

2001 is my favorite. I was blown away when I saw it in a theater at the original release.  Shows my age.  Nothing compares!

Jill ... My favorite science fiction movie is "The Day the Earth Stood Still". In it aliens come to our planet Earth to reverse the downward direction that leaders are taking the world (e.g., nuclear bombs). Maybe our planet might benefit if aliens came to Earth today to fix some of our problems. ... Gary ... Gary Cokins

Gary -- I assume that you're talking about the original 1951 version and not the 2008 remake, correct? "Klaatu barada nikto"!

James ... Thanks for alerting me to this. Yes. I meant the original 1951 version. I believe the actor playing the alien leader was Michael Rennie. I enjoy that you reference "Klaatu barada nikto" command to the robot. Do you remember the name of the robot? It was Gort !  ... Gary ... Gary Cokins

When they had the 50th anniversary re-release a few years ago I went to watch it at our local IMAX theatre. I was blown away at how well the practical special effects and the set design have held up. Sadly, I was the only one in the theatre!

Star Wars:  The Clone Wars (the animated movie AND follow-on series), partly because they are so well done, and partly because my kids love it.  Favorite character, Hondo Ohnaka (the pirate).

I thought it was interesting to read that Hayden Christensen watched the entire Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels series to get a fix on how Anakin should be portrayed in the flashback scenes for Kenobi. Should be interesting!
