    North Carolina State University

North Carolina State University (NC State) invites applications for one or more tenure-track faculty positions in the Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE). One position is at the assistant professor level, although applicants with proper qualifications may be considered for appointment at other ranks. Candidates are expected to have a PhD degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field. Applications will be considered in any area related to ISE. We are especially seeking applicants with expertise in (i) data science and analytics (including application of domain knowledge for "big data" problems as well as a methodology focus from optimization, statistics, or similar areas) or in (ii) production, logistics, or supply chain systems but will consider other areas. The expected start date for this position is Fall 2019. Salary will be competitive based on qualifications.

The Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering (www.ise.ncsu.edu) is one of only five named industrial and systems engineering departments in the United States and is consistently ranked among the top programs in the country. The department currently has a rich and diverse research portfolio in advanced manufacturing, biomedical manufacturing, health systems, human-systems, logistics, production systems, and systems analysis and optimization. The department houses two state funded centers, including: The Ergonomics Center of North Carolina (www.theergonomicscenter.com), which is the only center of its kind at a U.S. public research institution, and the Center for Additive Manufacturing and Logistics (camal.ncsu.edu), which is one of the most advanced manufacturing and 3D printing laboratories in the country. These centers are supported by world-class laboratory facilities for computing, manufacturing, and human-systems research. The department also supports two other academic programs within the university, including Operations Research (www.or.ncsu.edu) and Integrated Manufacturing Systems Engineering (www.imsei.ncsu.edu), and the department has a rich set of connections with other departments, other universities, medical schools, and other external partners.

Teaching responsibilities will include graduate and undergraduate instruction as well as supervision of student research at the Masters and the Doctoral levels. Applicants will be expected to develop a sponsored research program. General research responsibilities for faculty include a commitment to original and independent work and pursuing interdisciplinary collaborations, both within and external to NC State. Our location in Raleigh, NC, represents the eastern point of the Research Triangle and places us close to three major universities, a large number of world-class companies, and several leading research institutes.  Inclusiveness and diversity are integral to NC State's commitment to excellence in research, engagement, and education.            Please submit a cover letter, CV, research and teaching statements, and the names and contact information for three (3) professional references online at https://jobs.ncsu.edu/postings/106248.  You may also include a statement detailing how your teaching, service and/or scholarship has supported the success of students from racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented in the academic field; applicants  who have not yet had the opportunity for such experience should note how their work  will further NC State's commitment to diversity and its mission as a land grant university.  Review of applications will begin on October 1, 2018, and will continue until the position(s) is filled.
