    Hi All,

     

    I am sure you are all excited about the INFORMS annual meeting next week. We have a very active APS cluster with about 40 sessions, and you can see all of them at this link. Below, we list some of the highlights among APS sessions: APS tutorials, panel discussion, student best paper finalist session, Markov lecture and the APS Business meeting where we'll discuss important information about the APS conference.

    In addition, this year, we have a keynote and two INFORMS level TutORials conducted by APS folks, which are also listed below. Most of these are not pre-recorded and will be delivered Live. Note that all times are in PDT. Also note that the links for hybrid sessions will require INFORMS login.

     

    Sunday Oct 24

    • 6:00 am - 7:30 am, Session VSA21, APS Special Session (Tutorial) by Prof. David Gamarnik from MIT on 'High-dimensional Statistics, Algorithms, And Algorithmic Intractability' – will be held live at this Zoom link.
    • 7:45 am – 9:15 am, Session VSB21, APS Special Session (Tutorial) by Prof. Shipra Agrawal from Columbia University on 'Bandits and Reinforcement Learning' – will be held live at this Zoom link.
    • 7:45 am – 9:15 am, Session VSB80, INFORMS TutORial by Prof. Neil Walton from University of Manchester and Prof. Kuang Xu from Stanford on 'Learning and Information in Stochastic Networks and Queues.' – will be held live at this Zoom link.   This is a INFORMS level tutorial.
    • 11:00 am – 12:30 pm, Session VSC21, APS Special Session (Tutorial) by Prof. Guanghui (George) Lan from Georgia Tech on 'Complexity Analysis Of Stochastic Gradient Descent' – will be held live at this Zoom link.
    • 2:45 pm – 4:15 pm, Session SD03, APS Panel Discussion by Jose Blanchet (Moderator), Jim Dai, Shane Henderson, Devavrat Shah, Amy Ward. This is hybrid session that will be held in Ballroom C and Virtual Theater 3 (Alt Link).

     

    Monday Oct 25

    • 7:45 am – 9:15 am, Session MB03, Markov Lecture by Prof. Darrell Duffie from Stanford on 'Fragmenting Financial Markets' and Prof. Mathieu Rosenbaum from Ecole Polytechnique will be the discussant. This is also a hybrid session that will be held in Ballroom C  and Virtual Theater 3 (Alt link)
    • 11:00 am – 12:30 pm, Session MC03, APS Special Session (Tutorial) by Prof. Miguel Hernan from Harvard University on 'Causal Inference In Medicine And Public Health.' This is a hybrid session that will be held in Ballroom C and Virtual Theater 3 (Alt Link).
    • 11:00 am – 12:30 pm, Session VMC21, APS Student Best Student Paper Prize Finalist Session. This is a virtual session that will be held live on Zoom – Link.  
    • 1:30 pm – 2:30 pm, Session MK04, Keynote by Prof William Massey from Princeton University on 'A Dynamic Queueing Road Map from Communication Systems to Resource Sharing Services.' This is a hybrid session that will be held in Ballroom D and Virtual Theater 4.
    • 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm, APS Business meeting. This is a hybrid meeting that will be held in Ballroom A and also on this Zoom link. APS best paper award and the APS best student paper award will be announced at the business meeting.  

     

    Tuesday Oct 26

    • 11:00 am – 12:30 pm, Session VTC80, INFORMS TutORial by Prof. Jose Blanchet and Dr. Viet Anh Nguyen from Stanford, Prof. Karthyek Murthy from Singapore University of Technology and Design, on 'Statistical Analysis of Wasserstein Distributionally Robust Estimators' – will be held live at this Zoom link. This is an INFORMS level tutorial.
