Dear INFORMS colleagues,
Voting for the 2019 INFORMS Election is now open, and I'd like to introduce myself as a candidate for president-elect.
I see a bright future where INFORMS continues to be the preeminent organization representing our rapidly changing profession. Our diversity across both academia and practice, our breadth of disciplines and applications, and our scientific rigor will continue to form the foundation for our success. As outlined in my vision statement , we need to accelerate the implementation of the strategic goals of INFORMS.
For example, I intend to put more emphasis on the next generation of INFORMS members. When I look at our student members and those who are entering the workforce, I see a need for INFORMS to embrace new ways to communicate, collaborate, and work in our field. As the next generation chooses its career paths and looks for support and guidance, INFORMS has to provide them with effective mentorship and a welcoming professional home. If elected, I will engage directly with current and recently-graduated students to ensure that INFORMS is that home for them.
