    Hi Everyone,

Just a reminder that the 1st Workshop on the Operations of People-centric Systems will be held tomorrow, Friday, July 23, 2021, in conjunction with EC (virtually).

To participate in the workshop, you will have to register for EC 21. Conference registration is only $20 ($10 for students), provided you are or become a SIGecom member. A SIGecom yearly membership itself is only $10 ($5 for students). If you are already registered for EC, you can access the workshop via the Gather platform (Room B).

The workshop aims to address research questions arising in social systems whose operations critically rely on the participation of a large number of individuals. We have an exciting program of two keynote talks, a panel discussion, 3 contributed technical sessions addressing key themes in people-centric operations and a poster session.

    Keynote talks:

    Speaker: Karen Smilowitz (Northwestern)
Title: Building optimization models with community partners: rethinking student assignment in public school districts
    Time: 8 am - 8:45 am PT

Speaker: Sean Meyn (University of Florida)
Title: Irrational Agents and the Power Grid - Does ERCOT 2021 Teach Us Something New?
