Description
The Operations Research Analyst works alongside the software development group to build mathematical, statistical, and decision support models in ILOG/CPLEX. This individual is responsible for successfully implementing optimization applications to solve business problems. The Operations Reporting Analyst uses quantitative analysis to find the most efficient operational techniques for the organization. 0% travel required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with internal customers to identify, define, and resolve a variety of complex business problems and to support various corporate initiatives.
- Consults with the software development team in the implementation and design of applications through the use of business models to derive best solutions for the business.
- Acts as an internal consultant to various managers in the formulation of business decisions, action plans, and improved operations.
- Investigates operations processes by interviewing customers and collecting data in order to determine key decisions which need to be made and quantify a solution to optimize the process.
- Builds models and frames the business into mathematical equations designed to bring efficient solutions to problems at hand and tests models to ensure accuracy and upkeeps as necessary.
- Communicates project plans and articulates roles, project goals, and timelines, while incorporating project lifecycle models; collaborates between project sponsor and teams on process development and strategy implementation.
- Manages expectations for the project sponsors, internal customers, teams and vendors.
- Supervises and mentors the team in an effort to share knowledge and develop analytical and professional skills.
Minimum Requirements
Work Experience/ Education:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a focus in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics or related field required
- Masters Degree or PhD preferred
- 3+ years experience of applied operations research techniques including decision analysis, optimization, simulation and statistical and stochastic modeling required
- Knowledge of mathematical programming software packages such as IBM ILOG CPLEX, LINDO, or Xpress preferred
- Familiarity or use of forecasting preferred
- Experience working in a retail or transportation environment a plus
- Management of people and/or leadership experience required
