Bio

I hold an A.B. in Mathematics from Princeton University, and an M.S. in Statistics and Ph.D. in Mathematics from Michigan State University. In 2012, I retired after 33 years in the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University, teaching a variety of subjects. My research focuses on applied optimization, primarily application of integer programming models. Journals into which I have snuck an occasional paper include Operations Research, Annals of Operations Research, Decision Sciences, Naval Research Logistics, and the European Journal of Operational Research. Confirming that the universe has an offbeat sense of humor, I was co-recipient, in 1989, of the Scholarly Achievement Award given by the Human Resources Division of the Academy of Management.

I am currently on the INFORMS Pro Bono Analytics committee.
