The Elwood S. Buffa Doctoral Dissertation Award identifies and recognizes outstanding doctoral research in the development of theory or applications of the decision sciences. Submitted dissertations examine diverse subjects within the areas of operations management, information systems, and decision support systems, using variety of methodological approaches: analytical modeling, empirical, and/or experimental studies. Each year before DSI Annual Meeting, an outstanding group of reviewers carefully evaluate the dissertations. The reviewers examine each dissertation in terms of its originality, contributions to theory, contribution to practice, quality of research design and methodology, and clarity of expression. Four finalists will be selected to present a summary of their thesis in the conference, where the referees and audience will vote for the winner. The winner will be recognized during the conference main ceremony. Please notice that the deadline to nominate a candidate (which requires a letter of nomination from the student's advisor, the thesis, and a summary of the thesis) is June 15th.
