Post-doctoral Fellow in Modeling and Optimization of Renewable Energy Systems at The University of Texas at San Antonio
A post-doctoral position in the area of Modeling and Optimization of Bioenergy Supply Chain Network Design is available in the Texas Sustainable Energy Research Institute (TSERI) at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). The post-doctoral position is available immediately and offered for a one-year term, subject to renewal based on performance and availability of funds.
The post-doctoral fellow will be working with a research team to build a unified computational and theoretical scheme to enable the conversion of large quantities of biomass into marketable products (biofuels and biobased products). In addition, the research team plans to conduct industry-wide interviews/surveys and interact with national laboratories to collect input data, and will conduct an extensive literature review on this area of focus.
The position is part of a larger research program at UTSA focused on Energy and Sustainability. This research should culminate in journal publications and pedagogic case studies. The successful applicant will have domain expertise in supply chain design and optimization applications, coupled with a strong academic record and demonstrated scholarship. Other responsibilities may also include participating in grant writing, and co-supervising undergraduate and graduate students.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Operations Research, or related fields at the time of application. The fellow is required to demonstrate proficiency programming (C++, python or Matlab) and knowledge in stochastic programming and optimization techniques. Strong written and oral communication skills are a must and successful applicants will also exhibit leadership skills.
Application
Please send a complete application package in a single PDF document containing 1) a cover letter, 2) a complete CV, 3) a maximum 2‐page research statement, and 4) the names and full contact details for three professional references via email to Krystel.Castillo@utsa.edu
