    Dear Colleagues -

It gives me the distinct pleasure to announce the result of the 2017 M&SOM Practice-Based Research Competition that was organized and chaired by Jeremie Gallien of London Business School.  After all entries were reviewed by the academic committee (John Birge (Chicago), Feryal Erhun (Cambridge), Marcelo Olivares (U de Chile), Alan Sheller-Wolf (CMU), Geert-Jan van Houtum (Eindhoven)), the finalists presented their papers to the judges (Dr. Stefan Biller (GE), Dr. Hugo Mora (Nike), and Dr. Salal Humair (Amazon) during the MSOM conference that was co-hosted by Vinayak Deshpande and Jay Swaminathan at UNC-Chapel Hill.

I would like you to join me in congratulating the following 2 winners, 1 honorable mention, and 3 finalists of the 2017 M&SOM Practice-Based Research Competition:

The success of this practice-based competition would not have been possible without the unwavering support of Jeremie Gallien, the academic committee, our judges, and all those who submitted their practice-based research papers.   On this note, I am grateful to everyone who
supported us for this new initiative.   Given the success of this competition, M&SOM is committed to make this a biennial competition!

Thank you and have a great summer,
    Chris Tang
