An editorial from INFORMS Fellow and Georgia Institute of Technology professor Eva Lee regarding the development of a universal flu vaccine was published this week with Scientific American. INFORMS staff both worked with Dr. Lee to draft the piece, and successfully placed it in the media.
This represents yet another great outcome from our continued focus on visibility and awareness. If you're interested in supporting this effort and serving as a subject matter expert with the media please let me know. I can be reached at ashley.kilgore@informs.org.
In the meantime, I hope you'll take a few minutes to read Dr. Lee's editorial which discusses not only the importance of creating a universal flu vaccine, as our conventional approach to vaccination could easily be overcome by new strains of the flu virus, but that a solution can be found with an O.R. and analytics approach.
