    The Department of Management, Information Systems and Analytics in the School of Business and Economics
    at the State University of New York, College at Plattsburgh invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position focused on data analytics at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, starting Fall 2018. The successful candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching, research and service. He or she will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to diversity and gender issues, as SUNY-Plattsburgh is committed to ensuring that its graduates are educated to succeed in an increasingly complex, multicultural, and interdependent world.

    Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:

    The successful candidate will be expected to teach Data Analytics and related courses in the new Master of Science in Data Analytics (MSDA) program as well as the undergraduate MIS & Management majors. In addition to the teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research agenda resulting in journal publications and to participate in service activities. We would also expect the faculty member to play a key role in data analytics initiatives, which include providing curricular leadership for the Master of Science in Data Analytics as well as business analytics undergraduate minor. All data analytics courses will be taught in a computer lab, which creates an active learning environment where students obtain hands-on experience working together with their professors and classmates on analytics-related problems using large data sets. Candidates may be asked to teach courses in a distance learning format.

    Required Qualifications:

    An earned Ph.D. in analytics or an area closely related (e.g., operations research, information systems, management science, business statistics, operations management, or decision science) from an AACSB or ABET accredited program and, some teaching experience is required for appointment as Assistant Professor. For the associate level, candidates must show a record of scholarly publications and teaching excellence. Applications from ABDcandidates will be considered for appointment at a lesser (qualified) rank and salary, conditioned upon proof that the applicant's defense of her/his dissertation will be scheduled within the first year of the appointment. A successful ABD applicant will receive promotion to the rank of Assistant Professor and a salary increment at the start of the semester following verification of the terminal degree completion. An ABD hire will be limited to a one-year appointment, subject to renewal for one year only (2 years maximum). The successful candidate will have demonstrated an ability to work effectively and collegially with faculty, staff, and administrators.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Practical experience with the popular analytics software tools and languages commonly used in industry such as SASIBM SPSS Modeler, SQL, Python, R, Hadoop, and Tableau is preferred. Preference will be given to those with education, training or business/teaching experience in data analytics.
