Two postdoctoral fellowship positions are available as part of a research program dedicated to the development of advanced planning models and methods for innovative transportation and logistics systems. Known as City Logistics, Physical Internet and, recently, synchromodal and hyperconnected systems, they are built on the principles of consolidation, multi-stakeholder collaboration and cooperation, resource sharing and intermodality. Such systems aim simultaneously for high economic and service-quality levels as well as environmentally-friendly operations, using possibly autonomous vehicles, while taking advantage of information-technology advances that provide new opportunities to improve the planning processes at all decision levels. The challenge is to develop the Operations Research methodologies for the analysis, planning and management of such systems, explicitly integrating the inherent uncertainty characterizing them. The integration of learning mechanisms is also planned.
The fellows should hold a recent Ph.D. in Operations Research or in a related field. Expertise in mixed-integer programming, optimization under uncertainty or machine learning is an asset.
The candidates should send a cover letter (including the names of three persons supporting the application), a CV and university transcripts to: Teodor Gabriel Crainic, professor School of Management, UQAM, and researcher CIRRELT:
