The Department of Management, Information Systems and Analytics in the School of Business and Economics
at the State University of New York College at Plattsburgh seeks applicants for a one-year lecturer position in
Analytics/OR/MIS starting fall 2018. The primary teaching and research expertise will be in Analytics, OR and
MIS. The successful candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching and service in an institution
dedicated primarily to undergraduate education with a master's program in data analytics. He or she will be
expected to demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to diversity and gender issues, as SUNY
Plattsburgh is committed to ensuring that its graduates are educated to succeed in an increasingly complex,
multicultural and interdependent world.
Responsibilities Include: The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses for the MISA department
including Math Modeling in Business, Business Applications and Information Systems, Operations
Management. The faculty member is expected to maintain a record of consistent publication of articles in
scholarly journals or professional activities to ensure qualification under AACSB. The faculty member may
perform student advisement along with departmental, college, and university service. Candidates may be asked
to teach courses in a distance learning format.
Required Qualifications: At the time of appointment, the successful candidate is an ABD or holds a Ph.D. in
OR/Analytics/Information Systems/Operations Management or a related field from an accredited institution,
and has some teaching experience. The applicant's academic concentration and research programs should be in
areas directly related to OR/management science/analytics, IS, or operations management. Candidates with a
MS or MBA and relevant teaching and work experience, may be considered for the position, provided they are
qualified under AACSB standards. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the ability to work
effectively and collegially with faculty, staff and administrators.
Preferred Qualifications: Relevant teaching experience at the university level and a record of publications in
peer reviewed journals. Online teaching experience, ability and willingness to teach graduate-level courses in
data analytics, and secondary interests in healthcare informatics, cybersecurity, or simulation are preferred. Also
work experience in business relevant to teaching and research, and excellent communication skills are desirable.
