    The Chair of Health Care Operations/Health Information Management (Prof. Dr. Jens O. Brunner) at the Faculty of Business and Economics of the University of Augsburg invites applications for the position of

    Research Assistant / PhD Candidate (m/f)
    75% Working Time – Salary Grade E13 TV-L Bavaria

    located at the University Center for Health Sciences at the Klinikum Augsburg (UNIKA-T) in Germany.

    Who we are

    The UNIKA-T has been established as a joint research unit of the Augsburg Clinic, the University of Augsburg, the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and the Technical University of Munich in Augsburg. The participating institutions carry out research in the field of health sciences through a coherent research program.

    The chair deals with the planning and analysis of processes in the service sector. The modeling, analysis and optimization of questions related to Healthcare Operations Management using quantitative methods is at the forefront of our scientific activity. At the chair you will find an interdisciplinary and very well-equipped work environment in a young team with international visibility.

    Job Description

    The area of responsibility includes participation in international and national research projects, active participation in teaching and the performance of other tasks within the operations of the chair. The goal-oriented completion of a doctoral thesis is targeted. The teaching requirement is 3.75 teaching academic hours. Employment would optimally start at April 01, 2018 or later and last one year with an option for a three year extension provided suitable progress towards the successful completion of the doctoral thesis.

    Job Qualifications

    Successful candidates must have completed a university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in a relevant subject (quantitative study orientation), preferably from the fields of economics, business informatics, business engineering or business administration with a focus on operations research, statistics, data mining, computer science and (health care) operations management. A focus on studies in the field of health sciences is an advantage. Experience with the use of optimization software (such as IBM ILOG OPL) and the implementation of algorithms in a higher programming language (C ++, JAVA, Python etc.) are desirable. Very good knowledge of the English language as well as a commitment to an international orientation of research and teaching are expected.
