    Nominations and applications are invited for the position of Bagley Chair in Entrepreneurism in the Whitacre College of Engineering at Texas Tech University. The recipient of this chair is expected to possess an outstanding research and teaching record that are commensurate with appointment as a tenured professor. As an endowed chair holder, the faculty member will be required to develop academic offerings to equip engineering students for business aspects of engineering practice. The chairholder will be expected to develop an externally funded program in research and scholarship. A sister Bagley Chair (Jean Austin) in Management is held in the Rawls College of Business at Texas Tech which will provide for unique collaborative opportunities.

    Candidates must have a terminal degree in an engineering or business field. Candidates who have very strong records of scholarship supported by extramural funding and who have the proven capacity or clear potential to bring externally sponsored research to Texas Tech University are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with national and international companies. Significant industrial experience in entrepreneurship, innovation and start-ups is preferred. Service duties include program-building, as well as commitment to extra-curricular activities. Service to the department, college, and university is expected. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States. The College of Engineering consists of the Departments of Chemical Engineering; Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering; Computer Science; Electrical & Computer Engineering; Industrial, Manufacturing and Systems Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; and Petroleum Engineering and the chair holder can hold tenure in any of the departments, all of which are ABET accredited.

    Texas Tech University is a comprehensive institution that includes law and medical schools with an enrollment of more than 36,000 students. Enrollment in the college is approximately 4,800 undergraduates and 900 graduate students. Lubbock, a city of over 250,000, is a major economic and medical center on the Texas South Plains. Its 3,250-foot elevation results in a mild and sunny climate. Numerous opportunities are present for both cultural and outdoor activities, such as theatre, visual arts, biking and hiking.
