Hi Everyone! I'm new to the INFORMS Staff, and one of the projects I will be working on is Pro Bono Analytics. I think it's going to be so much fun to grow and develop the program. There's a lot of potential with a lot of possibilities, as I see it.

In the spirit of Pro Bono, I thought I'd share a recent INFORMS Press Release. A forthcoming study in the INFORMS journal Marketing Science, based on the psychology of sympathy, shows that small changes in the wording of a fundraising letter can increase donations by over 300 percent.

I'd also like to invite everyone to join the Pro Bono Analytics group on Connect. It is quick and easy.

    1. From the "Communities" tab in the main navigation, select "All Communities."
    2. Scroll down to find "Pro Bono Analytics."
    3. Click the blue "Join" button in the right column.
    4. Set your notification preference for the discussion.
    5. Click the blue "Yes join the community" button.

I look forward to seeing you in the group.

    Tia,

Welcome!  We are excited to have you as part of the Pro Bono Analytics team!

The article you highlighted by Sudhir, Roy and Cherian is just one example of the type of great work INFORMS members perform on behalf of nonprofit organizations. Pro Bono Analytics mission is to bring these techniques to smaller nonprofit organizations that currently lack the resources or skills to use OR and analytical methods.

I hope that INFORMS members will continue to sign up for the Connect group as you suggest, and also sign up through the Pro Bono Analytics web page to be a volunteer.

    Regards,

    Dave
