    Mayo Clinic has an opening for a Senior Health Services Analyst in the area of Information & Decision Engineering.  The individual will work closely with faculty, postdocs, other analysts and health professionals from clinical practice. The emphasis for this position will be on supporting research and translating innovations to practice. The individual has the opportunity to impact health and care delivery. The ideal candidate will be proficient in predictive and prescriptive modeling/analytics including data mining, simulation and optimization, and specific expertise in computation, and coding models and algorithms. Experience with programming (R, Python, etc.), SQL and relational databases is required. The candidate should have excellent communication skills (oral & written). Working with various data formats (free text, XML, etc.) and big data (Spark, Hive, Hadoop) is a potential opportunity for this position.

    Responsibilities: Implements and manages the scientific analysis plan for research projects. Proposes study designs and methodologies for quantitative and/or qualitative projects; assigns aspects of the analysis and provides direction to appropriate personnel (statistical programmer analyst and programmers). Conducts advanced analysis using quantitative software, reviews and interprets data and recommends action steps based on analytical results. Identifies existing institutional or external data sources and develops procedures for data collection. Manages tasks for research projects. Keeps assigned projects on task, identifies operational problems and proposes solutions. Contributes to the development of new projects, summarizes findings of comprehensive literature reviews, and prepares reports synthesizing analytical results emphasizing the implications of findings. Contributes to the development of presentations, manuscripts and grant preparation.

    Qualifications: Master's degree required. Healthcare experience preferred.  PhD is a plus. Demonstrated proficiency in implementing project analysis plans, including the ability to direct and monitor moderately complex projects and tasks. Must have strong teamwork, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Must tolerate a high degree of ambiguity. Knowledgeable of current health care delivery, economic and regulatory issues. Experience with large administrative or clinical databases preferred. Familiarity with coding (CPT, ICD-9/10) systems and risk adjustment methodologies preferred. Works with general supervision, performs complex duties/tasks within established guidelines.
