An opening is now available for a research appointment in the Department of Medical Physics at the postdoctoral level for individuals interested in applications of optimization in the field of medical physics. The two-year research project entails the development of an automated radiotherapy treatment planning system for clinical use. This is an exciting opportunity to work on the problems that would be directly applied to the care of patients undergoing radiotherapy for a variety of cancers. Applicants should have a strong background on mathematical modeling, optimization algorithms, and large scale optimization. Programming skills are required. Experience with Matlab and C/C# is desirable. Experience with radiotherapy optimization is a plus, but not required.
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, and is recognized as a world leader in clinical cancer care and research. The Department of Medical Physics consists of over forty faculty physicists plus support staff working on various problems related to the diagnosis, imaging and treatment of cancer.
