The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in the College of Engineering at Utah State University (USU) invites applications from candidates for an academic-year (9-months) tenure track faculty position in Transportation Engineering for Fall 2018. It is expected that this transportation position will be filled at the Assistant Professor level.
An ideal candidate will possess research and teaching interests that build on existing departmental strengths in roadway transportation systems analysis, planning, and management to address critical infrastructure challenges faced by areas around the world experiencing population growth, maturing transportation systems, and other urbanization impacts. Targeted areas of interest within transportation engineering include, but are not limited to, the following: highway and traffic operations, intelligent transportation systems, big data analytics, connected and autonomous vehicles, geometric design, and sustainable transportation systems. The department currently has 33 full-time faculty members and is continuing to grow with current enrollments of 359 undergraduate and 89 graduate students. A departmental research center, the Utah Transportation Center, is a member of the Mountain-Plains Consortium, a regional-level nationally-funded University Transportation Center.
