The 2018 Syngenta Crop Challenge in Analytics is open and accepting submissions from students and professionals who want to use their analytical and mathematical modeling skills to contribute to improving global food security.
The competition is a collaboration between Syngenta and the Analytics Society of INFORMS that asks participants to develop a model using real-world data to help increase crop productivity, which can ultimately address the growing global food demand.
This year's question asks: Based on historic observations and genetic composition, how will a corn hybrid perform in new locations with varying environmental conditions?
Cash awards totaling $8,500 will be available. Three finalists will be invited to present at the 2018 INFORMS Conference on Business Analytics & Operations Research in Baltimore, Md., in April 2018. The winner will be announced on April 17, 2018.
