    Dear QSR Members,

Welcome to the session preparation stage for INFORMS Annual Meeting 2018, November 4-7, 2018, to be held in Phoenix, Arizona. The QSR subdivision will reach the 20-year anniversary this year. In next week, I will send out a survey to collect the feedback from you about your plans for session organization. You may start to think about the title of your sessions and discuss with your potential speakers.

In this year, the QSR council would like to provide some information for your consideration.

    1. For regular sessions, we suggest each member organize one session at most, so that we can have more audience in each session. If there are more sessions or talks from your research group, please encourage your student to organize a session.
    2. In each session, we suggest 3-5 speakers, with at least one actual speaker as a senior QSR member (more than 12 years of QSR membership). We consider that this is a good way to hear the talks from senior QSR members. Here I also would like to thank all senior members in advance for presenting one talk yourself during the QSR sessions in INFORMS. Dr. Qiong Zhang will send out a list of senior members based on our database. Please feel free to contact us if you found any errors in the list.
    3. The submission of the regular session information is not through email, but through a survey from me next week. Before you fill in the information, please discuss with your potential speakers, including the senior QSR members. A session with less than 3 speakers may be subject to combination with another session.
    4. The information needed to create a session includes your name, email, title of the session, and types of the session (e.g., general session, or joint session). The types of the session will be included in the survey.
    5. The deadline for you to submit the session title by filling in the survey will be March 10, 2018 (EST).
    6. For special sessions, if you have any questions or suggestions, you are welcome to contact the coordinators, which will be approved by QSR council meeting in February. These special sessions include Best Student Paper Awards, Best Refereed Paper Awards, Student Interaction Session, Journal Sessions, Editors' Panel Discussion, Funding Panel Discussion, Workshop and Tutorials. An email will be sent out to follow up.
    7. The INFORMS conference will oversee the session scheduling. In case your session is not scheduled in the ideal time slots, I apologize for the inconvenience in advance. QSR council is working on a solution for those sessions.

Once again, thank you for your interest and contribution to QSR subdivision! We look forward to meeting you in Phoenix, Arizona to celebrate the 20-year anniversary.
