"Write proposals. Publish your research. Do the best teaching. Mentor students. Be a good academic citizen…"

After PhD, the junior faculty face immense pressure to be successful under the tenure clock and prove themselves to the academic world. The 2017 New Faculty Colloquium is intended for junior faculty who are looking to get advice on successfully navigating the tenure clock and networking with peers. Junior faculty in their first three years of being a faculty member are eligible to apply.  Sessions are organized around topics such as building and maintaining a research program, advising students, balancing research and teaching and service, writing successful proposals, and balancing work and life, and many more. The colloquium will feature speakers from business and engineering schools who will address different aspects of expectations.

This colloquium is one of three offered by INFORMS; others include the 2017 Doctoral Student Colloquium and the Teaching Effectiveness Colloquium. All will be held in Houston, TX on Friday, October 20 and Saturday, October 21, ahead of the INFORMS Annual Meeting.  The colloquia will begin on Friday evening with a welcome dinner for all participants and will continue all day Saturday with informative sessions, good food, and plenty of time to socialize and network. All colloquia participants must also register for the 2017 INFORMS Annual Meeting. The cost is $85 for students, $215 for all others.

The deadline is fast approaching! All nomination packages must be received by August 30, so please respond today! For complete nomination requirements and to make your submission, click here. Burcu B. Keskin is serving as 2017 Chair of the Combined Colloquia Committee. The chairs of the individual colloquium are Dr. Mihai Banciu (TEC), Dr. Sandra Eksioglu (DSC), and Dr. Aurelie Thiele and Dr. Julie Simmons Ivy (NFC).

We look forward to seeing you in Houston!
